As a reminder, each quarterly update will highlight ideas from my two main areas of interest.
Here we go!
Area 1: Operations
Leaders pay me to have pivotal conversations that change their trajectory. Yet many struggle to speak hard truths inside their own companies, accidentally rewarding silence and losing their best people. It doesn’t have to be that way; leaders who build systems for surfacing uncomfortable feedback are winning.
Area 2: Neurodiversity at Work
This quarter, I began testing a hypothesis that Personal User Guides can quietly boost inclusion at work. Since most employees struggle to get started, I built a prototype that automates the process. Want a draft of your own “How to Work With Me” guide? Reply PUG and I’ll send you a link in exchange for product feedback.
I’m also gathering stories about clarity and assumptions. What’s one moment this quarter when you wished someone had been more direct? If you’re open to sharing more, use this link to share your story.
What Else Has Held My Attention
1. Tokaido - a board game that pairs cooperation and competition. It has a non-traditional order of play (called a time-track mechanism) and even our 6 year old got into collecting the gorgeous scenery cards.
2. Kristen Lowe’s writing - a quiet but bold voice in the world of biz ops and culture.
3. Discernment - feels like a skill that is possibly a blend of intuition and taste; leaders seem to be deciding more and questioning less. Any good reads on this?
Hi 👋 I’m Shaun and I’m reasonably good at creating pivotal conversations that change a founder’s path. If you are interested in either of the areas I am working on, reply to this email or follow my more regular writing on LinkedIn for the latest.
Thanks for reading.
